2020 Arizona Author Series: Jan Cleere "Nevertheless She Persisted! Women Who Made a Difference on the Arizona Frontier"

Author Jan Cleere will present a talk "Nevertheless She Persisted! Women Who Made a Difference on the Arizona Frontier" as part of the State of Arizona Research Library’s 2020 Arizona Author Series. Her talk is at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 23 and will be held virtually on Cisco WebEx Meetings and will be streamed to Facebook Live. Attendees are encouraged to register below. After the talk, there will be time for questions from the audience.

The presentation will highlight early Arizona women who endured troubles and hardships, along with achieving amazing feats and triumphs during the territory’s early days, bringing a unique perspective to a harsh, strange country. Some of these women faced and fought discrimination, some laid down their lives. Learn about Native women warriors and peacemakers as well as women who rode into the territory to discover a completely different way of life. Journey back to a time in history when women explored, conquered, settled, and civilized this raw, extraordinary land. Celebrate Arizona women who persisted and persevered in their quest to explore, discover, and conquer new territories and new beginnings.

Jan Cleere is the author of five award-winning historical nonfiction books detailing the lives of early pioneers who first ventured into the desert southwest.
