Speaker Bios

David E. Rencher, AG®, CG®, FUGA, FIGRS, is employed as the Director, Family History Library and Chief Genealogical Officer for FamilySearch. A professional genealogist since 1977, he is one of the rare few who have earned both credentials: Accredited Genealogist® with ICAPGen in Ireland research and Certified Genealogist® with the Board for Certification of Genealogists. He is a past-president of the Federation of Genealogical Societies. 

Brandy Helewa, Discovery Librarian, State of Arizona Research Library, has worked for the State of Arizona Research Library for 3 years and is currently the Discovery Librarian. She is also the assistant administrator for the Arizona Memory Project, assisting with metadata clean up, ingest of digitized items, and working with partner institutions. She also maintains the digitization workflow process to ensure new digitized materials meet library standards. As the Discovery Librarian, she also dabbles in cataloging and is responsible for content across all State of Arizona Research Library social media channels. 

Bonnie Belza is a Family Historian and Genetic Genealogy DNA researcher whose work in Gerontology (the study of Aging) led her to Genealogy research.  She has attended I4GG (International Genetic Genealogy Conference), Roots Tech, SLIG and many national and local conferences.  She teaches the DNA Kindergarten class at the 500+ member West Valley Genealogical Society in Arizona and enjoys presenting on DNA Genealogy topics with a focus on learning how to use DNA information.
