Let's Talk Teens - “What is Your Why?”

This hour-long session of the will focus on strategies, thinking processes, and resources to support library staff in building more equity into their summer and year-round teen services.  After exploring the meaning of equity in library services, particularly summer services, participants will engage in a thinking activity to explore their ‘Why’ of summer services and their ‘Why” of equity in summer services.  Participants will be introduced to the “BEBS Equity Principles & Indicators”, developed as part of the Building Equity Based Summers (BEBS) IMLS grant project, to aid in the thinking and planning processes, prompting greater equity in summer and year-round teen services. Participants will be able to apply youth development principles, along with these equity-centered principles, to further their services for and with teens in the community.

As these sessions involve interactive discussions, they will not be recorded.

About Let's Talk Teens - Virtual Learning Series

The Let's Talk - Teens Virtual Learning Series is a 5-week learning experience designed to help library workers connect with and serve teenagers more effectively. While you won't find pre-packaged programs to use immediately in your library, these sessions will teach you a new way of thinking about youth programming.

Our 60-minute sessions are designed to be engaging and interactive, featuring both presentations and group discussions to encourage knowledge sharing. To get the most out of the experience, we encourage participants to attend all five sessions.
