AMPlify Your Research: Brand Books

AMPlify Your Research: Brand Books

Brand books are records of cattle and livestock brands registered through the Arizona Department of Agriculture. The Arizona Memory Project (AMP) has brand books dating back to 1898. The brand books contain the brands, the registered owner(s) of the brands, and where the brands were applied on the animal. Brand books are excellent genealogical resources, but they have a unique problem: you can’t search for a symbol in AMP. So how do you find a specific brand? This session will explain how to “read” brand books and provide some search tips.
