Western States Government Information Virtual Conference

The Western States Government Information Virtual Conference is a free, biennial conference hosted by Government Information Librarians in the Western States and open to all. This year's theme is Accessing, Discovering, and Using Local Government Information. Although not all of the conference sessions will be directly related to this topic, we look forward to hosting some great discussions about local government information!

This year's conference will be held on August 8-9, 2018. Each day sessions will run from 9am PDT/10am MDT to 3pm PDT/4pm MDT. See the complete schedule here: bit.ly/westernstatesgovinfo 

2018 Keynote

The conference committee is pleased to host Danielle Robinson, Co-Executive Director of the Code for Science and Society as our keynote speaker! This interactive and engaging keynote talk will address Community owned infrastructure for long-term, local data preservation

Danielle Robinson

Danielle Robinson is an open advocate who believes in the power of inclusive communities to get things done. She is Co-Executive Director of Code for Science & Society (CS&S) where she works support and advise people who create open source technology in the public interest. Danielle has a PhD in Neuroscience from Oregon Health & Science University. During her PhD, Danielle received a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship and lead advocacy efforts in the open science and data communities. She then spent a year as a Mozilla Fellow for Science, where she ran open source project management workshops around the world, explored decentralized approaches to data preservation, and advocated for open access to publicly funded research. As a leader at CS&S, she supports projects and runs programs that apply open source approaches to projects working to improve public access to information across research, civic tech, government, and new media.
